OVERVIEW
The Marangu Route, also called the βCoca-Cola Route,β is Kilimanjaroβs oldest and most traditional trail. It is known for being the easiest and most comfortable route, featuring well-established huts for overnight stays instead of tents, which makes it a popular choice for first-time climbers. The trail follows a gradual ascent, which helps with acclimatization, though some trekkers still find altitude challenging. The route passes through lush rainforest, heath, and alpine desert zones, culminating at Uhuru Peak for a breathtaking sunrise. While it is more crowded than other routes, the Marangu Route offers a reliable and well-supported trekking experience with a high success rate for summiting.
