6 DAYS RONGAI ROUTE

Approaches from north, drier, quieter, moderate difficulty

OVERVIEW

The Rongai Route is Kilimanjaro’s northern approach, starting near the Kenyan border. It is known for being drier, quieter, and less crowded than the southern routes, making it ideal for trekkers seeking a more peaceful climb. The trail passes through forested slopes, moorlands, and alpine desert before reaching the summit at Uhuru Peak. With its gentle gradients and gradual ascent, the Rongai Route offers a good chance for acclimatization and summit success, while providing unique perspectives of the mountain’s northern slopes that are less seen by other trekkers.
